Geddes Clan Book
Both North East Scotland and the Borders were the main stamping grounds from earliest times of proud bearers of the Geddes name.
With close kinship to three ancient clans, they found themselves at the heart of some of the most turbulent events in the nation’s history, while others have gone on to impress their distinctive mark at an international level.
On the stage, Barbara Bel Geddes was the American actress best known for her role of ‘Miss Ellie’ Ewing from 1978 to 1990 in the popular television drama series Dallas, and also for screen credits that include Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo.
Her father, Norman Bel Geddes, was the pioneering designer whose many achievements include the design for the General Motors Pavilion for the 1939 New York World Fair and also aeronautical design.
From yesteryear to today, presented here are the colourful and stirring lives and times of bearers of the Geddes name.
